NEVER STOP PRAYING

A Gospel Tract Especially for Millennials

(relationship-focused and sprinkled with apologetics)

“But God Didn’t Answer Me!”

During an emotional tug-of-war, Zack got down on his knees for two hours and called out to God for help. Yet no answer came. Later, Zack said to his friend, “Dude, now I’m not sure God even exists!”

So, why didn’t Zack hear from the living God who loves him deeply? Could it be that it wasn’t God’s timing yet to answer? Or could it be that Zack was unaware of God’s prayer promises and the hindrances to prayer?

5 Prayer Promises

“Prayer opens the door for God to do a glorious work in your life and in the lives of those around you.”1 Our loving, almighty God desires us to be real when we pray and to pray ongoing.2 Here are some of His amazing promises concerning prayer:

      1. God grants any petition or request prayed by a believer if it lines up with His will and His timing.3
      2. God gives mercy and grace to help believers in time of need when they approach Him through prayer confidently.4
      3. God answers all believers’ prayers according to His big-picture view of what’s best for them (now and in the future) and for His Kingdom.5
      4. The fervent prayer of a devoted believer has great power and produces wonderful results, e.g., victories in our life issues.6
      5. God welcomes unbelievers to begin a prayer relationship with Him and His Son if they respond to Jesus’ call:

“Look! I stand at the door [of your heart] and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal [start a relationship] as friends.”7

Is Jesus the Real Deal?

First, we know God exists because the historical Jesus, who lived in the 1st century AD, claimed to be the divine Son of God and validated it by modeling what His Father is like—sinless, loving, righteous, relational, and merciful. Ultimately, Jesus sacrificed Himself by dying on the cross at Calvary to pay for our sins so we could live with holy God in heaven someday. That’s the good news, the Gospel!

While Jesus walked the earth, He performed numerous miracles and predicted His resurrection from the dead, which happened on the third day after His death and burial. Then hundreds of eyewitnesses saw Him forty more days before He rose up to heaven. Jesus also fulfilled 300 specific Messianic prophecies! (For more evidence, see footnote 8.)

Hindrances to Prayer

Power in prayer has a direct correlation with our faith in God. A good pattern of prayer is A-C-T-S: adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication (petitions). Yet here are some blockades that keep the door of communication with Him closed:

      • Praying to a false or counterfeit god—instead of praying to the Living God who rules over heaven and earth9
      • Praying while holding unforgiveness in our heart against another10
      • Praying while doubting God’s ability or desire to answer us11
      • Praying with a wrong motivation, to serve selfish passions12

Jesus, Our Redeemer

Jesus Christ is the only entrance into God’s presence.13 No one else conquered sin and death. No one else suffered for us so deeply. And He did so to redeem us and to enjoy an everlasting love relationship with us.

This is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son [Jesus], so that everyone who believes in him will not perish [die] but have eternal life.14

You can begin your prayer life and walk with God by praying to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Your sins will be forgiven, and you can pursue His meaningful calling on your life,15 empowered by the Holy Spirit. If you’re ready, you can say a heartfelt prayer like this one right now!

“Dear God, thank You for Your great love for me. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead to give me eternal life. Jesus, please be my Lord and Savior and forgive me of my sins. And fill me with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”

Deepening Your Relationship

If you received Jesus, God wants to bless you and lead you. To grow in His grace and know Him more,16 read the Bible. Connect to a solid Bible-teaching church. Have meet-ups with other believers who know the joy of walking with Christ. And keep praying.

Continue to ask, seek, and knock.17 Then doors will open to you and you will see breakthroughs from heaven!
